“It was a way to communicate to myself that if I put in the work, I can get something. The first couple of weeks when I joined, everyone else got the moves, but I had no idea on how to do anything. Being able to perform communicated to myself that I can do it… With dance, you just have fun and that provided me an escape from life that I really needed. I don’t think people realize how important having that release in your life is. That separate thing that you do for fun and entertainment, cultural and artistic development. That has contributed to a lot of people being unhappy in high school, college and beyond. Maybe if everyone else had this activity in their life, there would be much fewer unhappy people. It’s a great way to connect to people.”
